David Welty

Director of Visual Arts, Mountain Biking Assistant Coach, Chair of the Elective Department

After a short experience in the public schools, Mr. Welty has spent the majority of his career, now well into his second decade, teaching at Blue Ridge. His classes explore all levels aspects of the visual arts including digital, ceramics, and more traditional media with a specified focus on building creative confidence. He also is a member of the Outdoor Program staff and enjoys coaching mountain biking. He live on campus with his wife and two dogs right next to the mountain bike trails and cabin lake.
